The Waukee High School Choir from Iowa USA

The Waukee High School Choir Department is excited to offer its first international choir tour.  Waukee High School has a strong tradition of excellence, and has twice been selected to send ensembles to national conventions for the American Choral Directors Association.  Students from all six curricular choirs are represented in the touring ensemble.  More than 325 students participate in choir on a daily basis at Waukee High School.  The students who participate in this touring ensemble have learned the music in weekly rehearsals outside the school day, demonstrating a clear commitment to their continued participation in music.

Jeff Knutson is the head choir director at Waukee High School, a program of over 325 students with six curricular choirs, three show choirs, and two jazz choirs.  Mr. Knutson completed his undergraduate degree at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa before completing his master's degree in choral conducting at Michigan State University.  Before he was hired by the Waukee Community School District, Mr. Knutson taught at Iowa City West High School, Bettendorf High School, and Boone High School.  Mr. Knutson lives in Waukee, Iowa with his wife Shannon and their dog, Decorah.

Kathryn Mosiman is the Associate Choir Director at Waukee High School. Before teaching at Waukee, Ms. Mosiman taught at Athlos Leadership Academy in Brooklyn Park, MN and East Sac County Community Schools in Lake View, IA.  She also served as the Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Hudson, WI. Ms. Mosiman completed her undergraduate degree in music education from Iowa State University and went on to complete her masters degree in choral conducting at Michigan State University.  Ms. Mosiman resides in West Des Moines, IA where she enjoys cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones with her family and friends.
